≪Synopsis≫ Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates are targeted by Cidre, a bounty hunter known as the strongest, and are attacked by a unit led by assault captain Ginger.

Cider, having heard that famous pirates, including Bullet, the successor to the "Demon" and a member of the Roger Pirates, would be gathering at the Pirate Expo hosted by Buena Festa, declared he would take the heads of all the pirates and began cornering Luffy and his crew when they appeared before him. Luffy and his crew fought back as a united force, but struggled against the tenacity of the carbonated soldiers and escaped using Coup de Burst. Landing on an island filled with carbonated gas, Luffy decided to search for cola to use as fuel, but was attacked again by Ginger and her group. Luffy was blown away by the carbon dioxide gas and landed in a hot spring, where he found Hancock bathing. Hancock was overjoyed to be reunited with Luffy, but Ginger and her group appeared before them. Luffy and Hancock fought Ginger and her group, but sensing danger from the extremely high concentration of carbon dioxide gas, they retreated for the time being. Later, when Luffy heard from Hancock that many famous pirates would be gathering at the upcoming Pirate Expo, he became very interested, but Cidre stood in his way as if to block his path.
